Sutter's Fort with Alana

Since Alana is in 4th grade, and we live in California, the California missions are a huge part of curriculum. Part of it all (including the project and the play I mentioned in a previous post) is going on a field trip to Sutter's Fort in Sacramento. I was lucky enough to hitch a ride with some of the parents and Alana and one of her classmates and go with her.

 Alana with Patty Reed's doll. This is why Alana was so interested in Patty Reed and was incredibly worried about making sure we saw this doll before we left Sutter's Fort. Patty Reed made this doll herself. Alana loved how small she was.

 I am so glad the school takes the kids on educational field trips like this one. The kids really get into it and that makes them remember what they learn in class longer. Alana has since traveled with her class to Coloma to pan gold at Sutter's Mill. She loved it! (I couldn't go because of work)
